ISSA-UK at Infosecurity Europe 2009

Event title:ISSA-UK at Infosecurity Europe 2009
Event Date:28th - 30th April 2009
Event Location:This event will take place at the following location:
Earl's Court, London
Event Agenda: Only one week to go until Infosecurity Europe

A recent Infosecurity Europe survey found that despite predictions of reductions in IT spending compared to last year, 55% of those questioned expect spending on Information Security to increase, and a further 34% think their spending will remain the same.

This growth in spend is largely driven by the recent increase in security threats as a direct result of the economic downturn. As Eric Domage of IDC EMEA Software Group and Keynote Speaker at Infosecurity Europe summaries:

"We expect to see an increase in "frustration Hacking" when people opportunistically attack their own company because they have been fired or frustrated"

Invite (ISC)2 job cafes

At the InfoSecurity Europe conference next week, (ISC)2 will host job market cafes with expert industry recruiters on April 29. The format will consist of highly interactive sessions between recruiters specialising in information security positions and job seekers/those looking to shore up their careers in the most difficult job market in recent memory.

(ISC)2 has invited leading recruitment firms to provide consultations at the show in 30-minute round table sessions. Recruiters from Barclay Simpson, Acumin and Information Security Solutions, will offer insight into current demand on the job market: which sectors are hiring, skills that are in demand and gaps that employers are struggling to fill. The sessions will then be open to questions and discussion from around the table. Information security jobs remain in demand, however for those who are seeking employment, competition is fiercer than ever. Gain insight from these experts on current hiring trends, prevailing attitudes of hiring managers and positions for which they're seeing demand. Lastly, you'll be able to ask them specific questions and hear their practical, substantive resume, interview, and job search tips to help you protect your career and enhance your marketability in ANY job market.

Participants may bring their CVs and will have the opportunity to network briefly between sessions. Space is limited, therefore we are asking people to register in advance. Please e-mail Lea Hatzopoulos at: lhatzopoulos@isc2.org to register and be sure to indicate your preferred time slot. Three time slots are available on April 29 - 2:30, 3:10 and 3:50.
